Dr.Seuss- Day 5

Today we did read The Grinch but most of our activities were more St.Patrick's Day based.

Math- I found the Counting Leprechaun Gold activity at http://secondstorywindow.typepad.com/home/2012/02/march-busy-bag-counting-leprechaun-gold.html. I found gold coin's at the dollar store to use instead of paper coin's that are included in the Leprechaun printable.

Art- The kids made handprint rainbow's with gold coin's

Science- Shamrock Fizz was the project for today. The kid's painted shamrock's with green baking soda paint (green paint mixed with LOTS of baking soda) once the shamrock's were dry the kid's dripped vinegar with an eye dropper onto their shamrocks.

Literacy- Cc is for Chalk so the kid's traced chalk Cc's outside.

Dr.Seuss- Day 4

Today are main focus was One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Our math was suppose to be sorting the color snack fish but the main store i do my shopping at had the on sale for .88 so i had no luck in finding any kind of goldfish snack. Easter is a little more then 2 week's away and i was going to save the egg matching but had no choice but to pull them out. I am glad i did because the kids loved the egg matching and it kept them busy for sometime.

Math- The kid's did number puzzle's but we also did number sheet's using St.Patrick's day stuff. When i put out the number sheet's and the kid's tried putting object's on the sheet's like on the pinterest pin below their frustration came quick. The object's were way to big for the box's. I can't find the picture's from this day :( but we colored Dr.Seuss picture's, made snack necklace's for watching the Lorax later, had lots of reading time (Read across America Day) and played our new Dr.Seuss matching game. I know Transportation only lasted 16 days but everyone in my class come's between 2-4 day's every week. So with that being said we are now in March and our theme is Dr.Seuss. Here is what we are doing in our center's for the month.

Sensory- During week 1 was fishing for letter's (1 fish 2 fish) I glued little magnet's onto fishing poles and used the magnetic letter's and during week 2 I put St.Patrick's Day themed stuff in the sensory tube. All of the St.Patrick's day stuff i found at the Dollar Store. I also made new sensory bottles.

Math- I found a Dr.Seuss Memory game at Target for around $5, because my class is so little we will be using the picture's for matching and because of the amount of piece's i used a few for our magnetic board.
